Our apartment is located on a street called the Tiquetonne, in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, which is located in the heart of the city. Rue Tiquetonne is in the old quarter, called Montorgueil, about a block from Etienne Marcel Metro. The 3. arrondissement starts just at the next crossroad.
In this section of the city, the narrow, ancient streets are closed off to auto traffic, giving the district back to the people and creating an ambiance of village life in the very center of Paris. Rue Tiquetonne alone has 18 restaurants and cafes and rue Montorgueil (the daily market street close by) has 30. This area is adjacent to and only a short walk away from the Forum of Chatelet/Les Halles, the Georges Pompidou National Center of Arts and Culture and the Louvre. A slightly longer stroll will take you into the heart of the Marais district.
